Since 2020, New Jersey has legally required civics education in public schools. Named in honor of a New Jersey poll worker who worked local elections for 79 continuous years, “Laura Wooten’s Law” includes civic learning standards for middle and high school.

But what about those who missed out on civics?

CivicStory, a New Jersey nonprofit news organization, has designed a brief quiz about essential civics concepts.

It’s aimed for diverse audiences including first-time voters, independents, and affiliates of the two major parties.

"Short quizzes are an easy way to put civics concepts in play," says CivicStory Board Co-President Dee Magnoni. "Democratic ideas are profound, and we need to think about them for our democracy to work well."

The quiz is anonymous and takes less than two minutes. To take the quiz, click here. When you submit, you can see how others respond.
